Hello all,
My name is Andy and I recently moved to Oregon from Cincinnati, Ohio. Im 24 years old and currently a graduate student at UO studying chemistry. I have been playing airsoft for more than 9 years now, all in the Ohio/Indiana/Kentucky/Pennsylvania areas and have attended a rather large number of events as well as hosting a few CQC events as part of a team in Ohio.
My preferred method of play is definitely milsim. I was the medic for my squad for the last number of years as well as serving SL roles at a number of events for smaller squads. (I don't know if you all have medic rules in PacNW or not... still familiarizing myself with the new structure out here).
Unfortunately, I was unaware of Airsoft Pacific when I moved out here, so some of my gear has been sold while the rest of it is still in Cincinnati. I still have more than enough for a playable loadout though. I'm working on getting it here as soon as possible as well as purchasing what I do not currently have.
Through my search on AP I came across your site and team and from what I can tell so far, I believe you guys would be an excellent match to at the very least get out and play with a few times. I'm currently in Eugene and would have no problem getting to Corvallis or wherever most team related fuctions take place.
Please let me know if you have any questions for me. I'd love to see you guys on the field.

Andy,
Welcome to our forums and the AP community! We are equally interested in meeting you and the possibility of you joining our team. It sounds like you have a lot of experience and would be a great addition to our team.
The best way to get to know us and join our team is to attend the games we attend. Our team has a few gear requirements which you should have no problem meeting. After getting to know you our team will vote whether or not you would be accepted as a member of our team.
I look forward to seeing you on the field.

Orion-
Thanks for the prompt response. I will work on getting my gear back up to my standard over the next couple weeks as well as getting everything I do already have out here. Should be no problem there. The only major issue I see is the fact that this is probably my busiest quarter of the year for weekend commitments. Good thing its winter - typically see a lot less people out playing at this time of year (although Oregon is incredibly mild.... I'm still a little thrown off).
Do you guys typically post on these forums which events you plan on attending? I see you have the section for discussion. Just wanna make sure I find the most appropriate place to figure out which events you all will be attending as well as the best way to find you when I get there.
Hope to see you all on the field soon.

Brew,
I understand how busy school can get. I'm a student at OSU, and I often cannot attend games due to school.
In our forums, we have a private section that is only visible to members of the team. A lot of our threads and posting are done within the private section. However, if someone plans on attending a AP game, they will post on AP. Most of the post in our private section are for organization of camo and who is going.
If you plan to attend a game and aren't sure if we will be there, feel free to ask by sending PMs or making a thread.

Grant,
Thanks again for the information. Looks like Faction Wars is probably going to be the best timing for me to get out and play. You guys potentially looking for +1 in your squad? If so just let me know what camo you guys will be wearing. And if you need a medic, I'd be more than happy to volunteer myself as well (I see in the event description that this will be an event utilizing medics).
I will definitely be camping if I go as well, so if any of you are planning that, we could definitely do some in person chatting the night before.

Andy,
PSC will be fighting for the Kabila faction, and we will be wearing muliticam. You are welcome to run with us at the game to see what we are about. PSC should have a good attendance. I know I plan on making it.

Grant,
Thanks again for the invite. As of today, it looks as if I will be coming with at least +1, maybe +2. Convincing some friends to take up the sport, however they have very little experience with simulations outside of paintball. I definitely plan on getting them up to speed (and hopefully well before they have a gun in their hand).
It looks as if we will all be coming in some sort of tan and fighting for the Kabila side. We will go ahead and get signed up. I definitely don't want to intrude on your team with multiple people, however if we all meet while camping the night before and you would like us to roll with your squad, we would be more than happy to go with you all.
One question as far as your team gear goes: What is the standard radio for your team? Do you typically stick with basic GMRS/FRS or do you use the UHF/VHF with headsets?
I know in Ohio due to the terrain (VERY hilly), often times GMRS/FRS lose contact with squads very often, so many people upgraded to the more powerful UHF radios. What is more standard (and legal, for that case) in Oregon? And not just for your team, but a typical command communications radio for events as a whole.
Also, is there any orange barrel / barrel plug rules at events? I'm assuming mag out/safety on rule applies in safe zones, but know some places require a cover on barrels as well.
Sorry about all the questions. Just want to make sure I'm covered and get everything purchased that I need.
Thanks for all the help. Hope to meet all of you soon.
-Brew / Andy

Hey, don't worry about the questions. We're here to help.
Our team runs UHF radios (Icom model F21). However very few people have gone away from the GMRS/FRS radios. So command networks are generally GMRS/FRS.
As for orange tips, it's only required when buying/selling, or transporting across state lines. People almost always paint/tape over any orange.
Barrel covers are not required (and sometimes even laughed at). Mag out, safety on, weapon slung is the accepted norm.
As for infringing on our team, don't even consider it. We are very open and accepting of new players. Just find some of us, introduce yourself, and have some fun.

As long as they play with honor, they can have a hi-cap and jeans for all I care I'm thinking about going to this one, unknown though, either way looking forward to meeting ya. I'll be the guy covered head to toe in MC.

Sounds like Oregon is pretty much identical to Ohio, haha. That should work out just fine. And thanks for the open invitation - I just know some teams would back away if some person they never met started wanting to bring more and more people along. But yeah, as of today, I'm officially +1. We are currently working on purchasing him his first gun. Probably something echo-1 or otherwise less expensive, to make sure he really enjoys the sport. Unfortunately I no longer have enough guns for loners (although that probably wont last long.. I always was a gun whore). I won't let him get away with hi-caps and jeans though Should have absolutely no problem with the honor issue either as he seemed to agree greatly with the golden rule of airsoft: When in doubt, just call yourself out. Are you all probably going to be camping for this one? Or are you the "I wake up at 3 am" types of people? I know I never turn down the opportunity for cheap (or free) camping. Always funny to see what happens.

I like to sleep in a big bed, with comfy sheets, and a sexy girl next to me. Can't really do that while camping.

I'm married, so I prefer the hard ground, in a sleeping bag, away from my wife approach. And it's better to have it willingly and not always just from sleeping on the couch.
...those of you that are married probably know exactly what I'm talking about.

I don't care where I sleep, a bed, in a cold wet ditch, as long as I am next to my wife
