So I have picked out a gun, and a BDU, however this month I can buy only one. Which is higher priority? Like I said, I have my UTG, but you say they are not very high quality. So should I buy a nice JG weapon or a BDU first? I know they said to use my current camouflage clothing for the Silverton skirmish so that you can evaluate me and see if I am good enough for the team, but assuming that I make the cut, is it more important to have a standardized uniform, or a better gun (and I am pretty sure that my UTG could last for a month or two)

Gun first. You will be much happier overall.
Also, be aware that it takes a long while to become part of our team. We like to make sure that people mesh propperly, have the right maturity, and the perfect personality.
Since you are just coming into bigger games, I would say just come out to the games, and play. Don't worry about the team thing. There are very few events where you MUST belong to a team. While we won't turn you away immediately, it could be a very long time till you are accepted to PSC, especially since you are new to the sport.

Might I suggest staying away from JG. While their guns aren't bad, if you want something thats going to last you a long time, your gonna want a full metal gun since it'll take a beating better. Take a look into CYMA, Dboys, and A&K. All of them put out cheap, amazingly built metal bodied guns that last. I have an A&K SR-25 and the only work it needed was a relube (which takes more time getting to the gear box than the actual process it's self) and A shim. Same story with my Dboys SCAR-L. It does need new bushings, but in its stock condition, its great, again just needs a lil lube and a look over.
What budget you working with?

I waited a year before trying to find a team, and you don't have to be local to the team in order to join. just attend games meet people see who you like and find a team based on friendship rather than location.
One of the mistakes i made when i first started was playing for myself on my own. Find someone on the field and work with them, learn strategy, and team work.
